It’s hump day and it’s the slow season in the islands, so it’s time for Three Drink Minimum. It looks like hurricane Igor is heading north and will make a visit to Bermuda – so raise a toast to the people of Bermuda and wish them well as Igor lumbers towards them!
So what could be more appropriate than to honor hump-day & hurricane Igor with an appropriate cocktail – The Dark n’ Stormy. The Dark n’ Stormy is the signature drink of Gosling’s Black Seal Rum, a product of Bermuda.
Dark n’ Stormy’s are A mix of Rum & Ginger beer. Gosling’s makes their own ginger beer, but here in the BVI, we prefer Old Jamaica Ginger Beer – which is readily available in stores. Old Jamaica Ginger Beer is really sweet with a hot gingery finish, so it leaves a nice burn to chase down the rum.
How To Make A Dark n’ Stormy
Ingredients
1.5 oz Gosling’s Black Seal Rum
Gosling’s Stormy Ginger Beer
Method
In a tall glass filled with ice add 1.5 oz Gosling’s Black Seal Rum and top with Gosling’s Stormy Ginger Beer. Garnish with lemon or lime wedge (optional). Serve in a highball glass
Rum and ginger beer is a great mix, so make sure you drink more than one of these – three is a good number, especially on Wednesday, the third day of the weak.
Please note: The closing party at Bananakeet is Tonight – so you can get a Dark ‘n Stormy there!
