Flashback to Earl: Hurricane Season is Underway

As hurricane season started June 1st in the BVI, it’s time to take a brief flash-back to August 2010, when hurricane Earl hit the BVI:

The roofing panels from the Customs House in Road Town have been ripped by sustained high winds and the majority of them have landed directly in front of Capriccios restaurant in Road Town. Just about every palm tree in sight is missing fronds and several other businesses suffered damage as a result of the category 4 hurricane, Earl that passed through Road Town Monday afternoon and into the evening.

As of this time, Sea Cows Bay, Road Town, Cane Garden Bay and many other areas are without water – and without power.

The restoration of power and water is underway. The estimate is that by 6pm, power and water will be back on in most areas.
