The Elmtones take their name from theirÂ long stint of playing gigs at The Elm Beach Bar in Cane Garden Bay. The Elm is known for it’s Friday & Sunday night Bar-B-Cues, filled with food, drink, dancing and of course, music by The Elmtones.
The Elmtones have established themselves as a fixture at The Elm Beach Bar in famous Cane Garden Bay, Tortola. They’ve been entertaining islanders and visitors alike for many years. Capable of playing many different styles, including Fungi, Blues, Rock & Roll, Jazz and more, they never let down a crowd.
This steady group varies from week to week, but the anchor men include SteveÂ Jarvis (also a luthier – meaning he makes guitars…),Â on guitar and vocals, George of Lashing Dogs fame on bass, Rob on Sax & steve Butcher on Piano.Â Bringing great times to all who have been lucky enough to enjoy them, The Elmtones have established a passionate following.
Over the years, The Elmtones have had famous guests sit in with them – notably, Steve Cropper in August of 2009:
“Steve was on vacation(staying at CRC) but word had spread he was on island, Steve was the mastermind of Memphis soul..lead guitarist for “Booker T and the MGs” and then later ” The Blues Brothers Band”, Crop co wrote, produced and played lead guitar on just about every Memphis soul hit from ” Dock of the Bay’ to “Midnight Hour”, “Knock on Wood” and ” SoulMan” Steve is in every Hall of Fame and was named the greatest living guitarist by Mojo mag.
He ‘s played with Buffett and Rod Stewart… and here he is playing at The Elm..The band ran through eveything from “635 5789″, to ” Dock of the Bay” & Soulman”… the guys in the band have never had bigger smiles on their faces… and Crop loved it too… Walt and Ruth of ” Blue Bayou” came over and the next day we all had a lovely day sail togteher that none of us will forget.
